In this workshop, participants will explore traditional and contemporary weaving techniques, using raffia, to make their own hand-woven object. Carly incorporates weaving into her arts practice in several different ways including creating woven sculptural pieces and integrating woven forms into her paintings. Carly was taught traditional weaving by Ngarrindjeri Elder and renowned artist Ellen Trevorrow and she will be sharing her knowledge with participants who will create their own hand-crafted piece.
ACE Open’s workshop program provides a unique opportunity to learn new skills and engage with leading contemporary artists in a creative, social and participatory environment. Designed to suit a range of skill levels and interests, these artist-led programs offer all audiences – from curious gallery-goers through to practicing artists – an opportunity to learn a range of creative techniques through hands-on, practical classes. All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
